Christus Victor is a Lutheran Church in Ocean Springs, Mississippi. that is serving as a shelter, food pantry, distribution center and medical clinic for those affected by Hurricanes Katrina and Rita. Several of our members have answered a call to help by traveling there to help out in person. It was our privilege to be a part of this unprecedented volunteer effort.

We were put to work in homes and at the distribution center. Those on the demolition crews set out each morning for homes that were left on solid foundations, to clear them down to the rafters followed by a thorough disinfecting, preparing them for rebuilding. The distribution center work consisted of unloading donations from tractor trailers, distributing the supplies within the warehouse, assembling packages to be distributed, then gathering and delivering them to staging areas for hurricane victims.
