Saint Nicholas Lutheran Church
COORDINATOR OF VOLUNTEER MINISTRY

The scallop shell with three drops of water (Triune reference) is a symbol of baptism. As baptized children of God, we are blessed to be a blessing. As the baptized we are called to be stewards of God's creation...thus, to serve (or volunteer).
Mission

To integrate new and existing members into the life of the congregation in order that the mission of the congregation may be carried out.

Worship Service Volunteer Calendar

Opportunities for Involvement
2010

Prayerfully consider how you can use your time & talents to God’s purpose this year. Here are the current volunteer opportunities:

  • Acolytes and Crucifers: Youth between 5th grade and 8th grade are eligible to be acolytes and crucifers.
  • Assisting Minister: Members of the congregation are sought to assist the pastor at worship services with prayer and communion. If the Spirit is calling you to serve, contact Pastor Greg.
  • Other Worship Helpers: Have you considered being an usher, reading the lessons, or helping serve communion?
  • Audio/Visual Operators: If you regularly attend the 11:15 service, like to play with stereos or sound systems, would like to support the S&R service and are at least 18 years old then here is your opportunity, train to operate the visual and sound system. Training is at your convenience. Contact Lisa Churchill.
  • Newsletter Helpers: Every month, the newsletter is assembled and readied for mailing. But it’s not done by magical newsletter assembly gnomes! The assembly team of St. Nicholas members is looking for additions to the team, to join them in the fun of folding, stapling, and rubber banding. It takes about 2 hours, on a Thursday morning toward the end of each month. Contact Barbara Harris or Anna Kitzmiller.
  • Welcome Team Members: Welcome people to the church before the church services, direct visitors toward the ushers, explain the worship bulletin, give directions, sit with visitors when possible, and introduce them to members after the service.
  • Nursery Team Members: The more the merrier! The Evangelism and Outreach Ministry would like to increase the number of adults available to work in the nursery. That way, no team member serves too often, and will seldom miss a worship service. If you are willing to serve every other month, please contact Barbara Harris.
  • Coffee Set Up: For Sunday morning hospitality. This can be done either on Saturday or early Sunday morning. Set up the percolator urns for coffee, decaf, and hot water, adding the coffee and water. Set out tea bags, sweeteners, and creamer, along with spoons, mugs and cups on the table in the Fellowship Hall.
  • Coffee Clean Up: Empty and rinse urns. Triple bag coffee grounds. Wipe table in Fellowship Hall. Clean trays and other serving items. Mugs, spoons, etc may be put in the dishwasher. Wipe sink, counters, cupboards, and floors of coffee spills.
