The Reverend Wendy Deeben

The Reverend Wendy Deeben – “Pastor Wendy” – is a graduate of the Gettysburg Lutheran Seminary, and was ordained into the Ministry of Word and Sacrament on July 29, 2006. She has served as Associate Pastor at St. Nicholas since August 14, 2006.

Pastor Wendy was born and raised in Sunbury, Pennsylvania (which is located fifty miles north of Harrisburg in Northumberland County), graduated highschool from the Shikellamy School District in 1998 and received a Bachelor of Arts in Religion with concentrations in Philosophy and Greek from Susquehanna University, Selinsgrove, Pennsylvania in 2002.

Pastor Wendy has a passion for the gospel of Jesus Christ and youth and family ministry! She enjoys children of all ages (including those young at heart!) Pastor Wendy has a heart for social ministry and evangelism. At her home congregation she assisted in teaching confirmation, VBS, trained acolytes, and was a member of the senior choir and various committees.

The Reverend Wendy Deeben

During seminary she served as a teaching parish student at St. John Lutheran Church, Boiling Springs, PA and as Vicar at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church of Parkville, MD. On internship Pastor Wendy worked with all ages in the congregation and was involved in most facets of the life of St. John’s.

Pastor Wendy and her husband John, a Genealogy Archives Specialist at the National Archives in Washington, D.C., have one toddler son, Benjamin, and a cat named Molly.
